Dreamstate

Dreamstate is a group photography exhibition that explores the relationship between the world we live in and the worlds we create within our imaginations. It speaks of our connection to imagery left behind by dreams and memories, and how their remnants permeate our daily lives. This exhibition features five emerging artists, Claudia Goulet-Blais, Laurène Smith, Michelle Caron-Pawlowsky, Isabelle Bredt, and Tristan Lamarre, who wish to depict the process of escapism through visual imagery by photographing commonplace subjects in ethereal or whimsical ways, revealing the hidden enchantments in everyday life. Each of these artists work to create nostalgic imagery that will transport viewers away from reality and give them a glimpse into their inner worlds, triggering the viewer’s own imagination and encouraging them to spend more time exploring their subconscious realities.

The work included in this exhibition poses questions about our relationships between ourselves and others, between our inner and outer worlds; it asks us to think about the natural world around us and consider the traces we leave behind with every encounter.
